3rd Annual Protecting Our Professionals Conference

Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Services (CRFRS) is a regional fire service that provides protection to citizens of Clearwater County, Town of Rocky Mountain House, the Village of Caroline, and the Summer Village of Burnstick Lake. Our service to the community includes rescue, fire suppression, prevention, and education.

The Protecting our Professionals Conference was established in 2017 with the focus on cancer prevention in the fire service by maximizing training dollars to enhance our safety and leadership skills.

The high caliber of presenters at this conference will discuss topics that are at the forefront of fire service protection, highlighting our values of accountability, integrity, and quality of service.

Tickets include meals, conference admission, hands on training session and follower ship to leadership lecture (limited spots available).

Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response

The Prairie Region TRANSCAER® Committee, in co-operation with the Humboldt Fire Department, will be hosting a Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response outreach event.

Interactive demonstrations will include:

  • CN911 Safety Training rail car

  • GFL Emergency Response equipment

  • Federated Co-operatives propane delivery truck

There is no cost to attend this event, just your time. Lunch will be provided.
This 8-hour course provides emergency responders with interactive classroom and hands on training in responding to railway and road incidents.

  • Steel toed shoes/boots

  • Reflective vest (high-vis) or coveralls with reflective strips (or bunker gear jacket)

  • Work gloves

Elevator Rescue for Fire Service Personnel

There will be 2 one day courses on Elevator Rescue presented by the Melfort Fire Department. Each day will start at 0800 and go to 1600. See this poster for more information.

The elevator rescue course material presented in these seminars will be based on the ASME A17.4-2015 – Guide for Emergency Personnel.

Each session would also cover the following areas:

  • How to recognize hazards and mitigate those risks when operating around elevator equipment.

  • Procedural steps for the safe removal of people that are trapped in elevators as outlined in ASME A17.4-2015

  • Elevator Basics, Types of Elevators and Terminology

  • Elevator Firefighter’s Operation Phase I & II
