Carrying the Burden of Trauma: Psychological First Aid & Spiritual Support in Times of Crisis

Have you been directly or indirectly affected by trauma? InterChurch Health Ministries – Saskatchewan (ICHM-SK) invites you to participate in presenter Tim Neubauer’s upcoming workshop, “Carrying the Burden of Trauma: Psychological First Aid & Spiritual Support in Times of Crisis.”

The cost is $60 ($50 for members of partner congregations). The workshop will take place Sept.12-13 (Thursday evening and all day Friday).

9/11 Stair Climb Challenge in Aberdeen

On September 11 2019 the Aberdeen Volunteer firefighters will be hosting a Stair Climber Challenge at the Aberdeen Recreation Complex.

The participants will be climbing 110 floors in full turnout gear to Honor the 343 Firefighters that lost their lives that day in the towers. All monies raised will be donated to the Saskatchewan Volunteer Firefighters Foundation mental health initiatives and CISM support.

Please contact us if you would like to take place in the challenge or to donate to support this event. It will start at Midnight on 2019/09/11 and run until 23:59 each participant will have one hour to complete the challenge. Turnout gear will be available for anyone wanting to try it with gear on.

Chris Siddon’s was a veteran of the Queen’s Army who served tours in Northern Ireland and Iraq. Chris came to Canada in 2005 and was a founding member of OSI-CAN in 2016.

After he stepped down from the organization he became an EMT in Eastend, SK. Chris dedicated his life to helping others and this is our opportunity to give back to him.

Canadian Blood Services is once again conducting its Sirens for Life blood donation campaign, pitting Regina and area emergency responders (Regina Police, Fire, EMS/STARS, RCMP) against each other for the months of February and March. Last year, EMS and the RCMP took first and second place!

Please join Regina Fire & Protective Services in supporting this important cause, that unfortunately, we are all too familiar with. As friends of Regina Fire, your donations will go towards supporting our numbers in the campaign.

The FireFit Championships was created as a spirited, friendly competition to highlight the level of fitness required of firefighters, to demonstrate to the world the nature of the job and to showcase the kind of people who protect life, property and the environment from the devastating effects of fire.

The six (6) essential tasks of firefighting make-up the FireFit Championships:
• Tower Climb
• Hose Pack Carry
• Hose Hoist
• Forcible Entry
• Hose Advance
• Victim Rescue

We have a number of events to participate in depending upon your fitness level and commitment!
1. FireFit Relay (3 - 5 person relay)
2. FireFit X3 (2 person technical relay)
3. FireFit Individual / Team (Team made of of 3 - 5 team members)
