All firefighters – Changes to WCB legislation
What does this mean for you?
If you are or have been a full-time, part-time or volunteer firefighter and have one of the primary-site cancers listed in the link below, the cancer may be presumed to be an occupational disease and you may be eligible for WCB benefits. On Dec. 4, 2019, Don Morgan, minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety (LRWS) introduced an amendment to firefighters’ presumptive coverage under The Workers’ Compensation Act, 2013. Effective Nov. 15, 2019, Bill 165 included a list of six additional cancers covered for firefighters.
